Perhaps what made my exchange experience unique was joining a dance crew, what’s more in a country where street dance is a pretty big thing. Joining Lunatic, a street dance crew in KAIST, gave me access to dance battles with famous dancers in Korea like Artistreet and Jinjo Crew *a moment of fangirling*.
More than that, it allowed me to take part in local activities like having a freshmen welcome party at a bar in less than an hour after receiving the audition results, attending a strawberry party and participating in internal battles/cyphers and learning from other professional b-boys when they come to share.
Although the language barrier can get to us sometimes, I’m thankful that dance is a language in itself and getting to groove alongside the freshmen only makes this experience more enjoyable.
